Hi everyone, I’m Jan, a Jersey City resident, wife, mother, freelance creative, photographer, and founder of IMAGO DEI by Design.IMAGO comes from the Latin phrase Imago Dei, meaning “Image of God.” The heart behind my work is rooted in the belief that every person is created with inherent dignity, value, and purpose.My journey into photography and visual storytelling has been shaped by seasons of motherhood, loss, faith, and rebuilding. After experiencing the loss of our infant daughter, Noel, I found myself holding even more closely to the importance of preserving stories, memories, and the people we love.Through IMAGO DEI by Design, I create honest, meaningful imagery for families, creatives, and small businesses. While rebuilding and continuing to heal through loss, I have found purpose in helping others feel seen and telling their stories with authenticity, beauty, and intention.As a mother, I especially enjoy connecting with other mothers, hearing their stories, and creating space for the moments that often pass too quickly. Motherhood has taught me the value of preserving both the ordinary and extraordinary seasons of life.I’m grateful to be part of this community and look forward to connecting with you.
My Approach
I approach photography with intention and restraint.Rather than directing moments, I observe quietly and allow what is real to unfold. Each session is shaped by the people present, the space, and the season it represents.This work honors connection as it naturally exists.
experience & care
My work is guided by deep respect for people and the spaces they invite me into.Before photography, I spent over 12 years working within clinical laboratory, medical office, and hospital pre and post operative environments. Those years shaped how I move through sensitive moments with awareness, care, and restraint.I learned how to read the room, honor boundaries, and remain present without intrusion.This work is not rushed.
It is held with intention and care.
